The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Teaser Is Here, Unveiling New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination released the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. It was showcased in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that focused exclusively on the upcoming animated film.
The sequel to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will propel Mario to the far corners of the galaxy. Along the way, he discovers a fresh princess character and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
A Space-Faring Quest Inspired by Iconic Releases
Similar to the Wii-era games that serve as its inspiration, Mario will venture away from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. On his epic voyage, he will encounter once more some recognizable characters, for instance the Luma, a breakout star from the first movie.
Yet it looks like Mario and his sibling Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who apparently utilizes powers related to metal. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also contains hints to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Returns and Expands
The movie will see the return of the primary vocal talent, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. It was announced by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
A Significant Period for Mario
The new Mario movie is set to release near the four-decade milestone of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Beyond the film, 2026 looks set to be a important time for Mario and his friends.
The company has a trio of new releases officially announced for 2026, including Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
