Brown launched his attack as the policemen and their colleague, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a driver subsequent to a vehicle incident in Whalley Range in July 2023.

PC Wolstencroft drew his Taser and sought a open target, ending the fight to an finish.
Sgt Ansell was heard stating: "Please provide help on my neck here, I've been stabbed in the neck."
