Major Online Outage Hits Many Websites and Mobile Apps

A widespread web disruption has impacted numerous websites and applications around the world, as users experiencing problems accessing the internet following issues at Amazon’s online infrastructure system.

The disrupted services encompass Snapchat, Roblox, Signal, and Duolingo, in addition to a host of Amazon-operated services such as its key e-commerce platform and the Ring home security firm.

Across the United Kingdom, the financial institution Lloyds was disrupted along with its branches the bank Halifax and the Scottish bank, while there were additional accounts of problems reaching the HMRC online portal on the start of the week. Furthermore across the UK, several Ring users took to networks to complain their home gadgets were failing.

Solely in the United Kingdom, reports of issues on particular platforms reached the many thousands for each platform.

The company stated that the problem originated in the east coast of the United States at Amazon Web Services, a unit that provides crucial online backbone for many firms, who utilize space on the company's servers. AWS is the most extensive online services service.

The widespread consequence seemed to hit services around the world, with the problem monitoring service reporting outages with the same sites in various regions.

The monitoring service Thousand Eyes, a service that monitors online failures, further indicated a rise in outages on that morning, including several cases found in the state of Virginia, the region of Amazon’s US-East-1 region where AWS said the outage started.
